The Household Hazardous Waste and Electronic Waste Collection Program (HHW) gives Los Angeles County residents a legal and cost-free way to dispose of unwanted household chemicals that cannot be disposed of in the regular trash.

Note: Any electronic waste collected at these events is sent to a facility within the State of California that certifies that it is 100% demanufactured and recycled to the commodity level in the United States. No electronic waste collected at the event is sent overseas.
Permanent HHW Collection Centers

- Environmental Collection Center at EDCO Recycling & Transfer (Signal Hill)
In addition, the City of Los Angeles Sanitation (LASAN) has established a number of permanent collection sites throughout the City known as S.A.F.E. Centers (Solvents/Automotive/Flammables/Electronics). These S.A.F.E. Centers are open every weekend and provide a convenient way to properly dispose of your e-waste, used motor oil, and HHW.

Other Free Programs
- Medications: MED-Project provides safe, free, and convenient disposal options for household medications in the community. Find a location for services near you.
- Sharps:
- Mail-back program allows individuals to safely dispose of used needles and other sharps by mailing them in a designated container.
- Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection events conducted regularly throughout the County.
- For unincorporated residents, can arrange for curbside sharps pickup through their waste hauler
- Paint Recycling: California residents and businesses can now recycle leftover paint at select retail locations. Visit PaintCare or call 855-724-6809.
