Grace R. Hyde, Chief Engineer and General Manager of the Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County, has announced her retirement effective July 26, 2019. Ms. Hyde is a 36-year employee of the Sanitation Districts who has served for the last 7 years in the capacity of the Chief Engineer and General Manager.
The Sanitation Districts Boards of Directors has appointed Robert C. Ferrante as the new Chief Engineer and General Manager. Mr. Ferrante is a 26-year employee of the Sanitation Districts who has served for the last 7 years in the capacity of Assistant Chief Engineer and Assistant General Manager.

Effective April 15, customers will have the ability to make online payments for Solid Waste Fees, Liquid Disposal Fees, Industrial Waste Connection Fees, Connection Fees, Service Charge–Direct Bills, and Industrial Waste Surcharge Fees.
The payment link is found in the "How Do I" section on this webpage. The link will lead to a secure payment website hosted by LexisNexis, the Districts' authorized payment vendor. All major credit cards and e-Checks are accepted, however, payments made by credit card will incur a convenience fee of 2.17%. There is no convenience fee for e-Check payments.

Yesterday, the Board of Directors for the Santa Clarita Valley Sanitation District of Los Angeles County approved a resolution to discontinue environmental studies related to using more recycled water and discharging less water to the Santa Clara River. The agency has determined that pursuit of these studies will not yield a timely or cost-effective project for its ratepayers due to ongoing litigation, permitting uncertainty, and overlap with other regional watershed planning efforts.

On January, 31, 2019, the Santa Clarita Valley (SCV) Sanitation District, one of our 24 districts, awarded a construction contract for an advanced water treatment facility at the Valencia Water Reclamation Plant. The new facilities will enable the SCV Sanitation District to comply with a strict State and Federally-mandated limit on the amount of chloride (salt) in the treated water discharged to the Santa Clara River by the SCV's two wastewater (sewage) treatment plants.

The Sanitation Districts awarded a construction contract for the Clearwater Project to Dragados USA, Inc. The project will protect local waterways by addressing aging infrastructure and involves building a new 7-mile long, 18-foot diameter tunnel to convey treated water from the Joint Water Pollution Control Plant in Carson to existing ocean outfalls at Royal Palms Beach in San Pedro. Construction will begin this year and is scheduled to end in 2026.

The 17-acre Bixby Marshland, located near the intersection of Figueroa and Sepulveda in the City of Carson, was restored by the Sanitation Districts in 2009. This marshland is a unique habitat located in an urban setting. We are open for free tours on the first Saturday of every month from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. We also schedule tours for groups by appointment.
