The California Public Records Act (the CPRA - Government Code Sections 7920 - 7931 et seq.) provides that access to information concerning the conduct of the people’s business is a fundamental and necessary right of every person in this state.

Read below for the type of records you are seeking.

  • Requests related to a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment, before you submit your request, click here to search for the address or parcel number to ensure it is within the
Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts' (Sanitation Districts) service area.

  • Sewer map requests: email your request with location map to engineeringcounter@lacsd.org. As-builts for Sanitation Districts' facilities are also available to view and download through the Sanitation Districts' Underground Utilities Application.

All other records requests:

To help us process record requests more efficiently, the Sanitation Districts have launched a new Records Request Portal. We kindly encourage you to use the portal to submit request. Using the portal allows you to:

  • Submit requests quickly and easily
  • Track the status of your request in real time
  • Communicate directly with our teams
  • Receive documents electronically and securely—all in one place.

In accordance with the CPRA, the Sanitation Districts have ten (10) calendar days to provide a response on whether the Sanitation Districts prepare, own, use, or retain records as described in the request. The ten (10) days begin the day the request is received by the Sanitation Districts during normal business hours, not when it is sent by the requester.

If the Sanitation Districts require additional time to gather and prepare the documents, you will be given an estimate of the length of time necessary to process the request1.

1The CPRA describes records that are exempt from disclosure. If records are withheld subject to the exemptions, the Sanitation Districts will notify the requestor of the reasons for withholding records.
