12/26/25, 6:40 PM
At approximately 1:00PM today a sewer spill was reported. The majority of the spill released is located along Spring Street between Cherry Avenue and Junipero Avenue in the City of Signal Hill. Much of the spill is due to heavy rain in the area entering the sewer system. Sanitation crews were able to minimize spill from this incident reaching the storm drain system. Sanitation Districts' crews have been able to mitigate and contain a majority of the spill and are engaged in clean up work of the area.
Construction teams from the Sanitation Districts will begin a physical inspection of the force main (sewer pipe) on Saturday, December 27th, where the release of sewage occurred. Based on the issues identified, appropriate construction or repairs will take place. There may be traffic control on the streets in this area while crews work to identify and fix the issue. Commuters and local residents are asked to drive with caution while crews work on the line.
