09/27/2023 – 7:00 PM

We will repave the intersection of Gridley Road and South Street beginning tonight at 8 PM.  As a result, Gridley Road will be closed at the South Street intersection in both directions.  Eastbound South Street at Gridley Road will have varying traffic restrictions. However, Westbound South Street at Gridley Road will be open to through traffic in both directions but turns onto Gridley will not be allowed.  The intersection will fully re-open to traffic at 9 AM tomorrow.

All work has been completed and traffic restored.

We are thankful to the contractors who worked to complete this emergency repair as quickly as possible and the City of Cerritos for their cooperation.  We especially want to thank the residents impacted by this work for their patience and understanding.

Our emergency repair work is wrapping up.  All current traffic restrictions will be removed by 6 p.m. with only shorter-term restrictions as noted below.  

On May 3, small traffic restrictions will be added on Gridley Avenue but at least one northbound and southbound lane will be open.  Those restrictions will be removed by the end of that day. 

Final repaving of the intersection of 195th and Gridley is scheduled for this Saturday from 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., which will require closure of the intersection during that time.

The final bit of work is restriping the road near 195th and Gridley on May 12.  That work will require limited traffic restrictions that day.

The first phase of our emergency repairs at the intersection of Gridley Road and 195th Street is complete.   

The second phase will begin when pipe liner is delivered.  We plan to line the inside of the sewer under Gridley Avenue from April 26 to April 30.  By May 3, the above-ground sewer bypass systems will be removed and most of the traffic will be restored. 

The last phase of work is to restore the pavement, which will require intermittent traffic restrictions.  All remaining work will be done during the daytime except for the lining work, which may require some nighttime work.

After discussions with Bragg Elementary School and the City of Cerritos, our traffic control plan for this emergency sewer repair has been revised as follows:

  • Eastbound 195th Street will be closed at Studebaker Road.
  • Westbound 195th Street will be closed west of Alburtis Avenue.
    • Lusk Avenue between 195th Street and Gridley Road will be restricted to local residents.
  • Northbound on Gridley Road will be restricted to local residents north of Bertha Avenue. Other drivers will be detoured east on Bertha Avenue.
  • Southbound on Gridley Road will be closed south of Eloise Street.

The area to be repaired will require intermittent shut down of the intersection of 195th Street and Gridley Road for approximately three weeks. During shutdowns, traffic will be impacted as follows:

  • Eastbound 195th Street will be closed at Studebaker Road.
  • Westbound 195th Street will be closed west of Lusk Avenue.
  • Northbound on Gridley Road will be restricted to local residents north of Bertha Avenue. Other drivers will be detoured east on Bertha Avenue.
  • Southbound on Gridley Road will be closed south of Eloise Street.

We have a partial sewer blockage at 195th Street and Gridley Road in Cerritos that requires immediate attention.  Addressing this concern requires excavation and will impact traffic and parking in the immediate area.  Sewer service for some properties may be impacted, usually for less than 24 hours.  We will contact these residents beforehand to make any necessary arrangements.  The overall repair may take several weeks to complete.
