Puente Hills Landfill

The Puente Hills Landfill is located in unincorporated Los Angeles County next to the City of Whittier. The landfill is south of the intersection of the Pomona (60) and San Gabriel (605) Freeways.

ACCEPTABLE WASTESHED

All solid waste originating from within Los Angeles County is accepted. Solid waste originating from other counties is also accepted, with the exception of solid waste reported to originate from counties with populations in excess of 2 million.

OPERATION

The landfill is open to the public from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Saturday except
holidays.

Clean dirt, green waste and asphalt loads are only accepted during the following times:

  • Dirt: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM for free. Please note that dirt acceptance is subject to early closures due to permit limitations. Call (562) 908-4288, extension 6048, for further information. End dumps, 10 wheelers and super 10s are acceptable. No bottom dumps.

  • Green Waste: 6:00 AM to 3:30 PM at a reduced green waste fee.

  • Asphalt: Unbroken Asphalt (large pieces): 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM at $2.00 per ton with a $20.00 per load minimum.

  • Asphalt Grindings/Chips:  9:00 AM to 5:00 PM for free. End dumps, 10 wheelers and super 10s are acceptable. No bottom dumps.

Payment at the scales must be in cash, credit card (MC, American Express, & Discover Card only), debit card, or by pre-arranged credit. No checks are accepted. All disposal rates, excluding green waste rates, include state, county, and appropriate local fees and taxes.
