Lane Closure Alert

Lane Restriction at Peck Road for the Construction of Railroad Bridge

A new railroad bridge will be constructed over Peck Road to accommodate a new railroad track for the PHIMF. This work will involve clearing and grubbing, grading, the construction of piers and abutment to support the bridge, and the placement of the bridge span. To facilitate this work, a portion of Peck Road between Pellissier Place and Workman Mill Road will be restricted. Initially, the southbound lane will be restricted to one lane from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. for approximately one month starting April 9, 2012. Eventually, the restriction will increase to one lane in each direction through 2012 until the new railroad bridge is complete.

All Lanes Reopened on Workman Mill Road - July 1, 2011

All lanes on Workman Mill Road were reopened on the afternoon of July 1, 2011 for vehicular traffic. To prepare for the reopening, the contractor paved the street and finished the sidewalk while Southern California Edison installed the streetlights on the south side of the street during the week of June 27, 2011.

Construction of Workman Mill Road and Access Road Improvements

The two northern lanes on Workman Mill Road were reopened on July 14, 2010 for vehicular traffic. The southern lanes are now restricted to accommodate construction. Both westbound and eastbound vehicular traffic are tapered from two lanes to one lane over an approximately 800-ft of transition segment before reaching the construction area. The southern lanes will continue to be restricted through June 2011.

Construction of Workman Mill Road and Access Road Improvements

Beginning early November 2009 and continuing through June 2011, construction of the off-street access road will restrict vehicular traffic to one lane each direction along a portion of Workman Mill Road between Peck Road and Crossroads Parkway South. As construction progresses, the Districts' contractor will post proper signage to notify nearby property owners of pending traffic restrictions along Workman Mill Road. The construction activities may result in minor traffic delays and congestion; however, access to local businesses will be maintained.

Relocation of Natural Gas Line and Underground Water Line Complete

The relocation of an underground water line and natural gas line along Workman Mill Road between Peck Road and Crossroads Parkway South was completed in June and July 2009, respectively. During construction, Workman Mill Road was restricted to one lane in each direction. This work began in December 2009 and was needed to facilitate the construction of the access road improvements project.

Please note that the utility relocation is one of the first construction activities related to the Puente Hills Intermodal Facility. Additional construction will continue into 2012. For up-to-date information, please check back periodically or subscribe to receive automated alerts via email.
