Microbiology Group  Microbiology groups at both the San Jose Creek and the JWPCP facilities serve a multipurpose function. In addition to regulatory microbial monitoring, the groups also possess specialized expertise to perform both fundamental and applied research.Analytes include enteric viruses, Cryptosporidium/Giardia, bacteria, bacteriophage, and helminth ova. Matrices include wastewater influent and effluent, reclaimed water, surface and ground water, ocean water, biosolids, and industrial waste. Methodologies include cultural, mammalian cell culture, PCR, RT-PCR, QPCR, microscopic examination, and immunoassay.
