Analytical Services  Research – Two research groups develop and evaluate new methodologies for the laboratories to keep abreast of current technology. Chemistry – Four separate analytical groups are assigned to organics extraction and analysis and trace metals digestion and analysis. The Laboratories also provide a full range of wet chemistry analysis for nutrients, BOD, COD, and virtually all general chemistry parameters. Biology/Microbiology – Three separate groups perform bioassays and microbiological examinations for research and regulatory compliance. Landfill gas – The research group at the Joint Water Pollution Control Plant conducts gas monitoring for the Districts landfills. Strike Force – The Laboratories provide technical support for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Environmental & OSHA Division.
