Earth Day 2013

Join the Sanitation Districts on Saturday, April 13 for Earth Day 2013, an event that features fun and educational activities for all ages. Tour a water reclamation plant and/or landfill, take a train ride that follows the journey of your trash from home to recycling center to landfill, enjoy music and dance performances, create eco-friendly arts and crafts, and participate in many other activities while learning about environmental issues.

Earth Day 2013 will be held from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Sanitation Districts’ Administrative Office Parking Lot, located at 1955 Workman Mill Road in Whittier. Event parking with shuttle service will be located at 13181/13191 Crossroads Parkway North. The event is free and over 3,000 people are expected to attend.

The event features participation from many community groups and partners. Over 50 exhibitors, including environmental organizations, green businesses, and governmental agencies, will provide information and demonstrations on ways to help protect the planet. Local school and community groups will engage attendees with music and dance shows, reflecting culture and the environment. Please also bring your old shoes and eyeglasses to donate to those in need. Please see www.soles4souls.org or www.lionsclub.org for more information.
