Have you ever wondered what happens to the 25 million gallons of sewage generated in the Antelope Valley each day? Find out how the Sanitation Districts convert this "waste" water into valuable resources. On Saturday, February 27, there will be a bus tour of the Palmdale Water Reclamation Plant starting at 9:00 AM and a bus tour of the Lancaster Water Reclamation Plant starting at 1:00 PM. Both tours are free and open to ages 10 and up.

Many residents are unsure of safe disposal methods for unused prescription drugs, needles, syringes, lancets, and other medical products. Currently, proper disposal services are limited, representing a significant public health problem. The Board of Supervisors recently passed a motion directing staff to draft an Extended Producer Responsibility ordinance requiring manufacturers and producers to develop and fund convenient collection services for LA County residents.

The Board of Supervisors created the Green Leadership Awards Program as a partnership with local residents, community groups, businesses and non-profit agencies to protect the environment and the County's natural resources. The 17-acre Bixby Marshland, located near the intersection of Figueroa and Sepulveda in the City of Carson, was restored by the Sanitation Districts in 2009. This marshland is a unique habitat located in an urban setting. We are open for free tours on the first Saturday of every month from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. We also schedule tours for groups by appointment.
