The South Gate Transfer station is located in the City of South Gate, east of the Long Beach Freeway (I-710) at the Firestone Boulevard exit. The transfer station accepts only non-hazardous municipal solid and inert waste. The acceptance of liquid or hazardous waste is not allowed.

OPERATION:

The transfer station is open to the public from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday except holidays. No loads over 1 ton, requiring unloading by hand, will be accepted after 4:30 p.m. Only vehicles greater than 1 ton that automatically dump their loads and loads under one ton will be accepted after 4:30 p.m. Click on Current Site Tonnage Summary for estimated closure times or you can call the site at (562) 927-0146 prior to leaving for the site. If the site is closed or about to close, the voice mail message will state that the site is closed. If the site is closed, click on Other Facilities to see if there is another solid waste facilities in the vicinity.

Payment at the scales must be in cash or by pre-arranged credit. No checks are accepted. All disposal rates, excluding green waste rates, include State, County, and appropriate local fees and taxes.
