Puente Hills Landfill 
The Puente Hills landfill is located in unincorporated Los Angeles County, next to the City of Whittier. The landfill is south of the intersection of the Pomona (60) and San Gabriel (605) Freeways. Restricted Wasteshed The landfill is prohibited, by the Sanitation Districts' Board of Directors' ordinance, from accepting waste generated within the City of Los Angeles and the County of Orange. For a map of the Puente Hills Landfill wasteshed area, click here. Operation The landfill is open to the public from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday except holidays. Also, due to County permit tonnage limitations, the landfill may close early. Click on Current Site Tonnage Summary for estimated closure times or you can call the landfill at (562) 699-5204 prior to leaving for the landfill. You will be informed if the landfill is closed or about to close. If the landfill is closed, you may take your load to the Districts' Downey Area Recycling and Transfer (DART) facility. You may also click on Other Facilities to see if there is another solid waste facility in the vicinity. Clean dirt, green waste and asphalt loads are only accepted during the following times: - Dirt: 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for free. - Asphalt: 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
